Innovate Logistics, one of the leading forces in the UK temperature-controlled logistics services industry, has chosen Gray & Adams as its supplier of tri-axle semi-trailers. The trailers will replace Innovate’s ageing Grampian fleet, based in Thorne.

Pete Osborne, Innovate’s Managing Director comments: “When we recently expanded our fleet, we were looking for a trailer manufacturer that would deliver value for money and top quality in equal measure. Gray and Adams fulfilled our brief – not only is it a well respected provider of quality trailers, it worked in partnership with us to ensure they were fully specified for reliability and image.” With a national network of 24 modern cold store facilities and with its recent acquisition of Corby Chilled Distribution, its fleet of over 500 vehicles, Innovate Logistics provides customised temperature-controlled logistics solutions, with industry-leading service levels, to a diverse customer base that includes many blue-chip names. It also provides specialist rail logistics from its centre in Dudley, Birmingham. Innovate has over 2,000 employees throughout the

UK and has forecast turnover of c. £175 million for 2006/7.

“As one of the UK’s leading temperature-controlled logistics providers, we required trailers engineered for technology and economic performance. Each reduces fuel consumption of both the fridge and tractor units and is equipped with remote temperature monitoring and tracking, reducing down time and costs. Innovate does not operate trailers beyond five years, so we were looking for trailers which would hold their value. I’m confident we have made a good investment with Gray and Adams.”

Gray & Adams’ tri-axle semi-trailers measure 13.6 metres in length and are fitted with BPW air suspension, designed for 44 tonne gross vehicle weight operation. The trailers provide Innovate Logistics with a range of damage assessment and safety precautions including full width compression buffers to minimise dock loading damage, full width coupling points to prevent excess neck wear, and two levels of impressed loadlok. In addition to these features the trailers’ colour impregnated side skirts not only look aesthetically pleasing, but also optimise fuel economy.
