Innovate Logistics, one of the UK’s leading temperature controlled storage and distribution providers, has launched a company-wide energy saving initiative.
The aim is to raise employee awareness of the environment and their energy usage by demonstrating the big impact little changes can have on the company’s overall energy consumption.
A special team, with the involvement of senior directors and management, has been appointed to lead the initiative which kicked off with a dynamic internal communications campaign. Colourful posters have been displayed throughout the stores and offices with bold messages reminding employees to close doors, turn off lights and shut down computers. These messages were echoed in the most recent employee newsletter. A competition has also been organised to get everyone on board and other promotional methods are being introduced to communicate how important everyone’s participation is to energy conservation.
Marie Houlton, Innovate’s pr and marketing manager, said: “We’ve received very positive feedback so far. It is an issue affecting us all – at home and at work. By tracking our usage on a day by day, week by week basis, we can monitor and measure our improvements. From there we will have a better idea of where our problem areas lie and make positive changes.”
Andrew Dawson, sales and business development director explains: “This is yet another example of how Innovate continues to focus on improving efficiency in everything we do. UK business is facing challenging times adapting to the raft of environmental legislation coming into force to combat climate change. We felt it was the right time to look objectively at the way we worked and be as proactive as possible to ensure we are the most efficient yet effective operation in the industry.”
Innovate Logistics has logistics centres in Birmingham, Chesterfield, Newark, Scunthorpe, Thorne, Westbury, Worksop, Coupar Angus, Eye, Bristol and Nottingham which is also the home of the corporate headquarters and transport bases in Leeds, Aberdeen, Merthyr Tydfill and the Ardo premises in Ashford.
