Innovate Logistics has been supporting Steer Clear, an organisation raising awareness among young people of responsible vehicle use and ownership during New Drivers Day at Mexborough Comprehensive. Steven Hatfield from the Road Safety Department also attended.
The day-long event comprised workshops and demonstrations to 120 sixth-form students including:
- Driving and the law presented by South Yorkshire Police
- First aid practical session hosted by South Yorkshire Paramedics
- Dangers of used car fraud
- Computer testing
- Everybody hurts presented by a disabled car crash victim telling of the consequences and dangers of poor driving
- Driving experience with seven local driving school instructors
Innovate Office at Adwick Par volunteered its entire car park for the driving experience workshops allowing students to get behind the wheel with a qualified instructor. Other businesses participating include Lambert Smith Hampton at
Sue Procter from Steer Clear said, “People aged between 17 and 25 are most at risk of being involved in an accident - this event is being run to try and encourage a responsible attitude to driving and hopefully keep young people safe at a potentially dangerous time in their life.”
