Innovate Logistics is pulling out all the stops to ensure supermarket retailers are fully stocked with turkeys and mince pies in time for Christmas, the biggest retail season of the year. As one of the
UK’s foremost temperature-controlled logistics operators, Innovate specialises in handling high volumes with tight turnarounds. During the first three weeks of December, Innovate Logistics will despatch 2,480,700 chilled and frozen turkeys and 150,240,000 mince pies across the
UK from its modern, centrally located depots in
Scunthorpe and
Chesterfield. During this period alone the teams will handle 26,200 pallets containing 1,240,400 cases of turkeys and 31,000 pallets containing 1,252,000 cases of mince pies.

Moving such large quantities in a short space of time requires the right infrastructure and the utmost planning and precision to maintain a robust supply chain. To manage the demand during the week before Christmas, Innovate will take on 47 additional warehouse staff. Pete Osborne, Innovate’s Managing Director explains, “The Christmas peak is a critical time for retailers and it is the role of the logistics provider to ensure on shelf availability. While this is not an easy task, we have an excellent track record in meeting demand during seasonal peaks.
