Environmental
Innovate Logistics' concern for the environment is reflected in its stringent design of all refrigerated stores by the use of zero ozone depleting refrigerants (which have no global warming effect), water resource conservation and energy efficient electrical consumption.

Zero Ozone Depleting Refrigerants:
Our refrigeration systems consist of a primary ammonia refrigerant, which is confined to the machinery room and an aqueous salt solution secondary refrigerant, which is circulated around cooling coils located in the refrigerated space. This prevents any contamination of the stored product or danger to personnel.

The aqueous salt solution secondary refrigerant is a by product of fertilizer manufacture, which is non toxic to humans, animals or aquatic organisms and is fully biodegradable in aqueous and soil systems.

Innovate Logistics pioneered the use of this type of secondary refrigerant in the UK in close collaboration with a leading Norwegian chemical manufacturer, culminating in our first store being constructed in 1997. Since this date all our subsequent stores have been constructed in the same manner.

Water Resource Conservation:
Water conservation plays an important part in our thinking. All rain water is collected from the refrigerated store roofs, stored in underground tanks and used exclusively in place of mains water for the refrigeration plant Evaporative Condensers.

Energy Efficient Electrical Consumption:
In our continued effort to protect the environment and the use of fossil fuels, we have introduced to the refrigeration plant of our new builds, the relatively new technology of electrical energy efficient variable speed drives (VFD) together with high efficiency drive motors.
