Innovate Logistics, one of the leading forces in the UK temperature-controlled logistics services industry, has chosen Thermo King as its sole reefer supplier. The twelve month deal was awarded to Thermo King as it met with all criteria stipulated by Innovate – to be able to provide the reefer, a telematics device to manage the assets and a contract maintenance deal for all new and existing reefers in the fleet.

The first batch of the 180 Thermo King SL Sterling units is currently being delivered to trailer manufacturers Gray & Adams. In the coming months Trac-King, Thermo King’s newest temperature management and communication product, will be installed. All of Innovate’s Thermo King units will also be entered in a Thermo King Total Kare contract which offers the support of 300 dealer workshops across Europe – 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Through its national network of 19 modern cold store facilities and its fleet of 255 tractor units and 380 temperature controlled trailers, Innovate Logistics provides customised temperature-controlled logistics solutions with industry-leading service levels to a diverse customer base that includes many blue-chip names. It also provides specialist rail logistics from its centre in Dudley, Birmingham. Innovate has over 1,400 employees throughout the UK and has forecast turnover of c. £120 million for 2006/7.

The Thermo King Sterling, available only in the UK, fully satisfies both chilled and frozen requirements, boasting a superior airflow, with specially designed fans circulating the air without restriction. When the doors are closed, this provides an air velocity far better than competitors can offer and it ensures an exceptional cooling performance with temperature variance throughout the load kept to an absolute minimum.
The Sterling is up to thirteen percent more efficient than its closest rival which translates into significant fuel savings. It is also up to 160kg lighter than its nearest rival which means less wear and tear on the tractor or trailer, and again leads to cost savings through reduced fuel consumption and, of course, better payloads.
